Oh man, this release is awesome. Thanks for all your hard work. I love the ability to change the "Fit-to" on the fly as well as "Bookmark" without ever leaving the page.

A couple of things I noticed that are absent from this version. While in the image viewer and you press start the page number/total page number is missing. Also, the same goes for the MP3 information.

While in image viewer mode, when you press start and bookmark the page, it puts the bookmark at the bottom of the bookmarks instead of at the top. Is this the way it was intended or is that a bug? While browsing my PSP folders I get two PSP folders and I only have one. Both work the same when clicked on.

i rewrote most of the program and haven't decided yet how to implement some things,

the bookmark option on the start thing works like a quicksave, only one slot available at the moment.

Nice work. Is there a possiblity of there ever being compressed archive support? I love using this to read my comments, however having to uncompress them and transfer would take longer than if it were just one file.

Thanks for updating this. Have been using this program for quite some time now. I agree with what leon3142 said, regarding the use of compressed comic/manga archives. This is probably more laziness on my part though. Sometimes the files contained within a given archive are not all from the same source so it means I need to go through and manually rename them. Not sure whether this would be fixed with cbr/cbz support but its an interesting thought nonetheless.

I don't know if I'm doing something incorrect, but when I try to view pictures at the old max res (1500 pixels was the max res of PeP-Viewer 0.7), the new version downgrades the picture and only shows 1347x896 pixels (or so it says when you press start.

I thought the new version (0.8) was not supposed to have a cap on max resolution?

Thats intentional. It'll resize very large pictures to conform with the PSP's memory limits. Slight downgrade, but very worth it imo.

First, thank you for your program!
I've been using it a lot and I especially like the caching/removal of size limitations in the new version.

Now the only thing missing is CBR/CBZ support. I think this feature is important because copying (and afterwards deleting!) individual pictures is waaay slower than using RAR/ZIP archives.
As a simple test, copying a 84MB CBR takes ~16 seconds, while copying the 303 individual files takes ~116 seconds. Deleting them took another 21 seconds.

There's a new program called pspcomic that's nowhere near pep viewer in terms of features/usability, but it has CBR/CBZ support.
And it comes with source code(C++).
I know version 0.7 of pep viewer wasn't written in C/C++ but I remember reading something about porting it to C++ for the future releases and from the blog it looks like version 0.8 is C++. So one could take a look at the source code (license is GPL) ...

Again, thank you for the program and keep up the good work!

Thanks for your hard work! I ran into a snag, the viewer does not load up on my 8GB card (it just goes to a blank screen and then nothing else happens) but works fine on my other 4GB and 2GB cards. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Ah, so that's it. Thanks for the reply Nadim.

I'm curious, when exactly will the resizing kick in? At what resolution will PeP 0.8 still maintain a one for one pixel resolution? I greatly enjoyed version 0.7, as I resized many pics down to the ceiling of 1500x1500. I understand the memory limitations being the primary factor.

Maybe I'll just keep two versions of PeP on my PSP.
XD

great work

the previous release was almost perfect for my needs, except for the 1500x1500 limit

so this one is very fine to me (and the upgraded interface is sure a great bonus)
but it seems that the sound remote's control buttons are no longer supported (volume buttons work)

Hi,

first of all, this is an amazing program, it's the main reason I still use my PSP, to read my daily portion of Comics. The fact that I had to unpack and resize every comic I want to read, was a minor setback, but I could live with it. Now in this release, I don't have to resize anything anymore, just unpack, which saves a lot of time, amazing job.

But is there still a max size for a picture?

If I watch my unresized comics (2500x2500 and up sometimes), and especially the double pages, pepviewer regularly locks up, and sometimes I even get a "psp blue screen of death".

If I try to open a double page that's too big, 2 things can happen.
a) the loading icon appears, but nothing happens, not even after a long long long time.
b) The loading icon appear, but nothing happens for a long long time. After a while (when I'm reading an other page that opens, while in the menu, or while waiting) the PSP crashes.

In both cases I can just stop the loading, go to the menu and do everything else. But in some cases the PSP crashes like I said, and in other cases PEPviewer just stops opening any file at all. I can browse, do whatever I want, but I can't view any file.

Would be nice if you could fix that in a future release if possible ;)

Keep up the good work

philippe, I had the same problem, and with some research I figured out that the precaching of this sw sometimes causes the psp to overload (IMO), specially when opening images with hi-res. Deactivate the precaching (On the configuration menu, toggle it to 0) and put the clock-speed to 333. The overloading should be fixed by now. There's a little delay when switching between images, but this delay it's almost insignificant, and it doesn't disturb the experience of using such a great app for the PSP. Besides that, I'm glad to say that this program lives up to its name. I hope the precaching issue is solved in the next update, but meanwhile use this configuration to avoid further problems.

0.8 works perfectly on 3.90 m33-3 and 4.01 m33-2, but you need to install the 1.50 kernel

hypo said that i need 4.01 m33-2, and the 1.50 kernel. i've got both of them, but in Game folder PSP displays 'PsP Viewer 0.8' and beneath i can see 'corrupted data'. it seems that my psp doesn't read folder pepv08%.

but why?
